The Birth of Sandcastle Mania: A Story of Waves and Wonders
It all started with a simple vacation and a handful of sand. My mum, visiting from her desert home during her annual beach-house rental vacation, inspired me to create a sandcastle. Well, more like a little village of huts—nothing grand, just a fun little project shaped by the ocean breeze and a touch of whimsy.
After finishing the sand village, I set up my camera to capture what I knew would come next. The tide rolled in, slowly battering the huts until they crumbled under the waves. I recorded it all, thinking it would be a fun keepsake for my mum to enjoy when she went back to the desert.
To make it easy for her to find, I uploaded the video to a new site called YouTube. What I didn’t expect was how much others would love watching that simple video of waves washing over the castle. It wasn’t fancy, but people connected with the simplicity, the soothing visuals, and the charm of impermanence.
That’s how Sandcastle Mania was born. From a little village of sandy huts to a growing community of sandcastle enthusiasts, it’s all about celebrating creativity, sharing memories, and letting the waves remind us to enjoy every moment.
I’ve made the website now, and maybe it will be its own Sand Lot? lol…
